Offered here today is a superb European figural of a period gentleman who appears to be about to take a drink from a bottle he holds in his right hand. This is exquisitely done, with the gentleman dressed like a dandy in purple breeches, a waistcoat, and a pale blue coat trimmed in pink, orange, and purple. He sports a tri-corner hat and his hair flows down his back. He is standing on a black pad with what looks to be a black tree trunk coming up behind him. It is marked on the base with the inscribed numbers 7420, the roman numeral II, and .07, as well as the handwritten number 72 in red. He likely dates to 1860-1880, and is certainly continental European in origin. I would go so far as to guess at an Austrian or German origin, as I’ve seen many such examples marked Austria or Germany. He stands 5 ½” tall and approximately 2 ½” x 2”. It is in superb condition with its only issue being a small glaze flake at the bottom left side of his coat. Shipping weight: 1 lb.3 oz. (Location: B1)
