This is a stunning platter, deeply and crisply molded and with gorgeous glaze. It is part of a complete dessert set consisting of 8 plates and this platter, so if you like this, be sure to see the matching plates at item #RL070822. This platter features a lovely cornflower blue poppy rendered in typically Art Nouveau style on a basketweave background glazed in butter yellow. At the turn of the century this pattern was produced by the Georg Schmider factory at Zell am Hammersbach and imported into the US by at least 2 known importers, one J.B. & W. of New York and Flambeau China Co. of Limoges, France both of whom marked the pieces with their importers mark rather than the piece carrying the mark of the manufacturer, though they do bear Schmider’s model number (in this case 2207). This platter was imported by the importer J.B. & W., and dates to between 1907 and 1928. It measures 11 ¾” in diameter (excluding the handles). It is clearly marked “J.B. & W. NY, Germany” in a black underglaze triangular backstamp as well as carrying the impressed number 2207. This platter is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs, etc. It is, in short, perfect! Shipping weight: 3 lb. 10 oz. (Location: MB1)
